Foundations of Mechanics and Acoustics
- Hours 15
- ECTS 3
- Teacher Prof. MISSERONI Diego, Prof. RUSTIGHI Emiliano, Prof. ZOLEZZI Guido
Objectives
This class provides a comprehensive exploration of the mechanical and acoustic behavior of materials, focusing on cutting-edge concepts and applications. Through a combination of theoretical principles and practical examples, students will gain an in-depth understanding of the mechanics and acoustic behavior of hyperelastic materials, inelastic behavior, failure criteria, vibrations, and wave propagation in elastic solids.
Topics
Introduction to vibrations and acoustics
Vibrations and acoustic wave propagation in structures
Methods for structural analysis
Interaction between structural vibrations and acoustic waves
Applications and case studies
Required Skills
Basics of math (complex variables, differential and integral equations).
Course Modality and Verification of Learning
The classes will be given in hybrid (i.e., onsite and online) format. The teaching activity includes theoretical lessons and practical examples.
The exam consists of a written test with multiple-choice questions on the topics of the course.
