Lab on Product Design Fundamentals
- Hours 15
- ECTS 2
- Teacher Prof. ROSSI Stefano
Objectives
Product design consists of a holistically design of the product, considering all technical and aesthetic-perceptual aspects. Technical design and industrial design merge. While the first is clearly defined and known, there are false beliefs and ideas about the second. The choice of a material for a product is not only linked to its technical performance and performance but is significantly influenced by the perception that the potential customer has of the material and therefore of the product. To be able to use a material successfully, it becomes necessary to know the basics of product design. The course should therefore be a short trip into the world of industrial products, trying to understand how the intangible aspects of a product are very often more important than technical performance or aspects relating to cost. Starting with the definition of "product design“, the most important aspects, that influence the design of an industrial product, will be shown.
